S35 Somua
I bought this model as a fresh release on a model show. I just wanted to have this obscure tank that existed in plastic just as a poor Heller kit, and suddenly we had a fresh new model in the golden Tamiya standard. In other words, I wanted the fresh and shiny kit without having any intentions to finish it. And that’s exactly what happened. It took me several years to finish the construction, and then I gave up halfway through the painting process.
Years later when I broke my leg in a mountain biking accident, it was the perfect model to finish with my leg in a cast. I didn’t have to strip the original paint down, I just covered the model with primer and started all over again, this time with a vivid French camouflage (the original paint job was a dull green Italian vehicle).
It’s now a part of my “Calm before the Storm” diorama.
