KV-1 Cast Turret
This was one of those models that you buy at a model show, come home excited, start building it in the evening, and the next day, it’s ready for painting. A perfect weekend model!
The paint job and weathering took a bit longer than that, of course. This was done back in the old days when I was still experimenting and finding my style, and this model was a part of my OPR journey – trying to learn and understand Mike Rinaldi’s oil paint rendering.
As such, the mud tones were done with pigments, and the snow is an interesting concoction as well – a mixture of white pigment and baking soda, held in place with Pigment Fixer.
