JS-2 is a really ironic tank for me, because when you compare it to large German cats, it’s actually very small. Yet it’s one of the most heavily armored tanks built by the USSR during WW2. These tanks saw action on several battlefields on the Eastern Front, but the most iconic scene is definitely the final battle of Berlin in 1945.

Despite its cool looks and iconic status, I’ve only built one tiny 1/100 model of this tank before, and even that was just a quick pallet cleanser project. I also wanted to have some fun with heavy steel textures again, and this tank is full of them. In fact, it might be the best example of some of the heaviest and craziest steel textures on any tank ever. Combined with damaged fenders, some “liberated” stowage, and the red stars with white bears on the turret, fun is pretty much guaranteed!

This model is now a part of my “Bears Crossing” diorama.
