Jagdpanzer “Ferdinand”
Ferdinand has such a clunky design, but something about it just screams “heavy”. When I was a kid in elementary school, my favorite PC game was a real-time strategy “Blitzkrieg”. This game was a life-changing experience for me, because it introduced me to a vast array of armored vehicles from WW2. I still remember how indestructible the Ferdinand felt in that game.
So a Ferdinand peppered with shell impacts at Kursk was one of my dream projects for a long while. But I also enjoy painting raw oxide primer finishes, and I haven’t done the latter in years. Since Amusing Hobby released this kit with the appropriate decals, and it actually represents a real vehicle, not one of those half-finished what-if 1945+ tanks, it was a clear decision for me.
The model is now a part of my “Night Shift At The Tank Factory” diorama.
