I have always liked British armor because of its weird design. It’s hard to deny that there’s something “special” about it. I was also fascinated with all kinds of what-if armor subjects from WW2 and the Cold War era. Mud also offers you tons of creative possibilities, and a Churchill tank without its mudguards seemed like the perfect playground for all kinds of gnarly weathering effects. So when we combine mud, Churchills, and what-ifs, we’ll get the 3-inch Gun Carrier!

The base kit is the fantastic AFV Club which I’ve upgraded with Voyager PE and Friulmodel metal tracks – a model with all its tracks exposed simply deserves a decent pair of “shoes”!

It was also a nice chance to try the famous “Mickey Mouse” camouflage used by the British in WW2. Yes, it was designated for cars, lorries, and other soft-skin vehicles, but it also found its way on armored vehicles such as the Archer.

This model is now in a private collection of another modeller.
