Panzer Of The Lake 2
Even a simplistic out-of-the-box build can be elevated with an equally simple, but detailed scenic base. The purpose of this small diorama was to show the Leopard 2 in motion, and the downhill slope helps to emphasize that (at least in my opinion).
A standard muddy dirt road surrounded by small vegetation seemed a bit bland on paper, so I decided to include a large, but shallow body of water. I’ve had a few reference images of muddy Leopards traversing wet terrains, often containing large puddles, and in some cases, the scenery looked like a swamp. These tanks have absolutely no problems traversing such soft terrain, and the epoxy water gives the scenery a completely different, unique texture.
An oval shape was chosen for the diorama, because I think sharp edges can slightly break the illusion of water. Nothing wrong with that, of course, just another personal choice!
