Finders Keepers!
My most ambitious diorama to date. Built exactly according to historical images, but slightly adjusted so it would look more aesthetically pleasing.
The scene captured in this diorama took place sometime in late February or early March of 1945 in Oberembt, a German town.
Based on what’s seen in historical images, the Sturmtiger found itself in a tight situation when it approached a creek with a flimsy wooden bridge. Trying to turn around, it started reversing and ran into a drainage ditch. This probably broke the right track, and the massive vehicle remained stuck. Then it became an easy target for an American tank destroyer that knocked it out from behind.
My diorama depicts the scene after a few days, when the Sturmtiger has already been inspected by Allied soldiers and prepared for salvage operations.
