Beautiful British Columbia

A scenic base/diorama for my dream model – Pacific P16 created as a 3D printable model by Aladdin Model.

This model is massive, it dwarfs any tank I’ve built so far, it’s heavy, and most crucially, fragile. So it was only natural that it would need some kind of scenic base for protection. But the scene goes beyond that, it puts it in its natural habitat, a winding logging road somewhere in the mountains of British Columbia… Vancouver Island, perhaps? The original truck I used as my main reference is based in Campbell River, so Vancouver Island sounds like the most appropriate setting.

I wanted to add as many visual clues into the scene as possible. Starting with the height of the diorama that enhances the feeling of elevation, to fresh wood shavings and bark chips littering the ground. Just as with the truck itself, reference images were extremely helpful during the entire creative process.
